Bicycle storages
We are creating a capital where it is convenient for every resident and visitor to get around—regardless of the mode of transport they choose—and where travelling across the city is a pleasant experience. Bicycle storage facilities are one of the measures included in Vilnius’ Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, aimed at increasing the attractiveness and use of alternative ways of travelling in the city.
In 2024, modern bicycle storage facilities were introduced for those who do not have space to store bicycles and scooters at home. Each of the 20 storage units can accommodate 16 bicycles and 4 scooters, is automatically locked, and is accessible to residents 24/7. By 2027, an additional 124 storage facilities are planned.

Stands for bicycle
In Vilnius, it is convenient and safe to lock your bicycle to U-shaped bicycle racks. More than 4,000 of these racks have already been installed across the city—near schools, healthcare facilities, along the main streets, and next to popular attractions. You will also find racks near shops and business centres. In addition, 350 new racks are planned to be installed every year.
Can’t find where to lock your bicycle, or have you noticed an abandoned or vandalised bicycle?
Why choose cycling?
Save time
You will travel faster than on foot, avoid traffic congestion, and won’t waste time searching for a parking space.
Become healthier and happier
Research shows that physical activity improves mood, supports overall well-being, and helps you stay in great shape.
Contribute to a greener environment
You will reduce noise in the city and help protect nature by contributing to cleaner air and lower pollution levels.
Spend less on travel
It is estimated that travelling 1 km by bicycle costs only €0.08, compared to €0.50 when travelling by car.
Tips for Cyclists and Micromobility Users

What should every cyclist or scooter rider know?
Make sure your vehicle – whether a bicycle or a scooter – is in good technical condition.
Stay alert while riding – observe and listen to what is happening around you.
Respect other road users and be considerate – make sure others can see you and try to make eye contact.
Remember to keep yourself and others safe: keep both hands on the handlebars while riding, and avoid holding hot drinks or using your phone.
Key road traffic rules
Keep to the right while riding. Before making any manoeuvre, always check your surroundings and signal your intention – raise your hand to indicate a turn, and only then change direction.
For bicycles and scooters, as with other vehicles, the right-hand rule applies: when there are no priority signs, you must give way to road users approaching from the right.
Make yourself more visible in low-light conditions—wear clothing with reflective elements.
Remember that after rain or in low temperatures, the surface may become slippery and your braking distance will be longer than usual. For a safer trip, choose streets with lower car traffic.
