Devices for recording traffic violations

Traffic violation detection system – a measure to discipline drivers who commit violations. Three types of traffic violations are recorded: speeding; running a red light; driving in a lane reserved for public transport without authorization.
The main purpose of the traffic violation detection system – reduce accidents in Vilnius. The simple operating principle of the system reduces the number of offenders who exceed speed limits and ignore traffic lights, thereby reducing the number of traffic accidents and the number of people injured or killed in them. The system also helps to maintain general traffic order and ensure priority for public transport in special traffic lanes.
How traffic violation detection devices work: they capture (photograph) a vehicle in the act of committing a violation (speeding, running a red light, or driving in a public transport lane without authorization). The photo clearly shows the vehicle’s license plate number and the driver’s face. Data from stationary violation detection devices is transferred to a computer system located at the Traffic Control Service of the Vilnius City Police Headquarters (VPK). The entire system is protected against data loss or any unauthorized access.
