Driver information display boards

The main purpose of the driver information light system is to inform drivers in real time about current traffic conditions, road works, and traffic restrictions.

The light board system is a group of electronic information boards (signs) with variable text (VMS – variable message sign) located in strategically important places in the city. The light panels are installed on the main streets leading to and from the city center. It is particularly important to provide drivers with information about possible traffic restrictions or traffic jams on city streets.

There are two types of traffic signs installed in Vilnius. Type A traffic signs (4 rows of 15 characters) are designed for installation on road sections where the average speed of vehicles does not exceed 60 km/h. Type B light panels (3 rows of 18 symbols) are designed for installation on road sections where the average speed of vehicles does not exceed 80 km/h. In addition, the brightness of the symbols on the light panels is automatically adjusted according to the time of day.
