Micro-mobility in Vilnius

Electric scooters and bicycles have become a common part of sustainable mobility in Vilnius. If you travel on them too, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the rules for electric micro-mobility vehicles. The city will thank you, and you will thank yourself for avoiding traffic accidents and enjoying pleasant trips around the capital!
Memorandum
traveling by electric micro-mobility vehicles in Vilnius
Plan your trip so that you do not exceed the speed limit.
Electric micro-mobility devices are fast, but road conditions change even faster. Even a small obstacle on the road can have serious consequences – remember that the wheels of an e-scooter and a bicycle are sensitive to even the smallest pebble. For added safety, wear a helmet and reflectors during the dark hours of the day.
Pedestrians have priority on sidewalks
Pedestrians always have the right of way on sidewalks. Here, you must move at walking speed, and when overtaking, maintain a safe distance (at least 0.5 m) and speed
(3–7 km/h).
It is important to hear your surroundings – not your favorite music
Don’t get distracted while driving – pay attention to your surroundings and sounds. Listen to your favorite music or podcast episode during your break.
Adjust your speed to the movement of pedestrians
Parks, squares, and public gardens are places where you will encounter many people, children, and pets on leashes, so be especially careful when riding in these areas. If you see that pedestrian traffic is heavy, walk your mobility device alongside you.
Two wheels – the same rules apply
The same rules apply to drivers of electric scooters and electric bicycles as to cyclists:
- It is mandatory to ride on bike paths, lanes, bike streets, or low-traffic streets (the speed limit on such streets is up to 30 km/h).
- Cycling on the sidewalk is only permitted when there are no other alternatives.
Don’t forget: Pedestrians have priority on sidewalks.
Electric scooters and bicycles – not alone on the road
When traveling by electric scooter or bicycle and crossing an intersection, be sure to stop or slow down to ensure that it is safe to proceed.
The crossing is intended for pedestrians – dismount from your electric micro-mobility device and walk alongside it.
It is only safe to ride across a bicycle crossing after making sure that other road users can see you and will let you pass.
Move with an electronic micro-movement device alone
Remember: one electric scooter or electric bicycle for one person.
Romantic rides for two, three, or more people on a single electric scooter or electric bicycle are not permitted.
Do not leave the e-mobility device anywhere
Electric scooters and bicycles cannot be left anywhere. Especially at intersections, bus stops, or across pedestrian or bicycle paths.
Leave your equipment in a safe place – in designated parking areas, next to bicycle racks, trees or poles, along streets, footpaths, building walls, etc., without obstructing pedestrians or other traffic participants.
In your hands – only the steering wheel of an electric micro-mobility device
You can only drive with two hands. You cannot use your phone, and the safest place for it is in your backpack, handbag, or pocket, but not in your hands.
You don’t need to rush out and buy a bike or scooter to get around Vilnius
During the warmer months, bicycles and scooters can be rented flexibly and conveniently from several different companies operating in the capital, which contribute to the implementation of a sustainable transport vision in the city. What’s more, using the sharing services is really easy – you can do so using your mobile phone or by purchasing a special card.

Cooperation and education
The city and businesses are working together to ensure maximum safety for residents and visitors in the city, improve the quality of infrastructure, educate people about the proper and safe use of vehicles, parking, compliance with traffic rules, etc.
It also undertakes to provide relevant information and data on the use of the service and plans.
Vilnius is a city that moves smoothly, where electric scooters and bicycles have already found their place. In order to introduce more order in parking micro-mobility vehicles from sharing platforms and to increase traffic safety in areas heavily used by pedestrians, the main principles for providing electric scooter and bicycle sharing services in Vilnius are presented.
Based on these principles, the aim is for city residents who use sharing services to contribute to the creation of a culture of mobility and to ensure safe traffic for all participants through their behavior. The approval of these principles aims to ensure that smooth movement in the city is created not only by sharing service providers and their users and Vilnius City Municipality, but also by residents using personal micro-mobility devices.
Parking of electric scooters and bicycles
Park your vehicles in parking areas specifically designated for electric scooters and bicycles, marked with horizontal markings.
If there are no marked areas, e-mobility devices must be left in such a way that they do not obstruct other road users, for example: along the street, on the sidewalk, next to bicycle racks, along the walls of buildings, trees or poles, etc.
Reminder: parking of electric scooters and bicycles is restricted in the old town, parks, squares, on bridges, viaducts, and other places where pedestrian traffic intersects.

Let’s enjoy the streets of Vilnius together!
In the center of the capital, electric micro-mobility devices can only be left in special parking lots. This parking arrangement on city streets helps everyone fit in.
In the Old Town, on bridges and other specific areas, with heavy pedestrian traffic, e-scooter and bicycle riders must travel at a speed not exceeding 12 km/h, and signs prohibiting e-scooter and bicycle traffic are in effect on Vilniaus, Pilies, and Savičiaus streets.
