Contactless payment on public transport

Ensure that the machine accepts your contactless payment card (see the question "Which bank cards can be used for payment?").

If the machine does accept your card, ensure you used the contactless payment card correctly (see the question "How to properly use a contactless payment card on a ticket validation machine?").

When you first tap your contactless payment card on the ticket validation machine (on the current day), an amount specified by the public transport ticket purchase rules will be reserved from your account.

These rules vary depending on the card type:

• For "Visa" cardholders: the reserved amount is €0
• For "Mastercard" cardholders: the reserved amount is €0.90
• For "Maestro" cardholders: the reserved amount is €0.90

At the end of the day, this reserved amount will be canceled, and the total amount corresponding to the tickets purchased will be deducted from your account. You can check how many tickets you have purchased by filling this form.

All new ticket validation machines are certified by payment card organizations. The card information processing system has been tested and meets all security requirements of the card organizations.

It is not recommended to hold your JUDU/Vilniečio and contactless payment cards near the ticket validation machine simultaneously because:

• The machine may detect only the payment card, and a ticket will be purchased.
• The machine may detect only the JUDU/Vilniečio card, and a ticket from the JUDU/Vilniečio card will be activated.
• The machine may detect both cards, resulting in an error message on the screen, indicating that only one card should be used.

Which card is detected by the machine depends on how the cards are positioned relative to each other and how they are tapped. Always tap only one card on the machine.

If you suspect that someone may have used your payment card without your knowledge, you should first contact your bank to request the card be blocked and the payment transaction canceled. Only your bank can initiate the cancellation of a payment transaction.

If you purchased the ticket yourself but the transaction details are incorrect (for example, the wrong amount was charged), please fill out this form.

For the first inspection, the inspector will need the last 4 digits of your card if the ticket was purchased with a physical bank card or the last 4 digits of the virtual card if the ticket was purchased using Google Pay/Apple Pay.

The virtual number can be found in the Google Pay or Apple Pay mobile wallet by clicking on the card and accessing the card details section. After the first time these steps are taken, subsequent inspections of the bank card will work similarly to the JUDU card checks – by tapping the card or device to the inspection device.

Tap your contactless payment card against the ticket validation machine again. If the purchase was successful, the machine's screen will show how much longer the ticket will be valid.

With one physical card, you can only purchase one 60-minute ticket. However, by tapping a physical bank card and then tapping a mobile device with the same bank card in the Google Pay or Apple Pay wallet, two separate tickets will be activated.
