Location criteria

Antakalnis was chosen for such parking lots due to its specificity and ability for people to move in different ways – by public transport, car, bicycle, etc.

Even before the start of the works, a separate analysis was carried out on the places of Antakalnis that would be optimal for equipping multimodal sites. Various criteria were assessed – institutions, schools, other attractions nearby, public transport passenger flows, bicycle path network, parking situation, distribution of mobility flows. Antakalnis is a transit area of Vilnius, located next to the city centre, with many attractions and residential objects. And multimodality is most relevant precisely in such urban areas where there is a possibility to choose the most suitable means of mobility.

Antakalnis has also been chosen due to the fact that it was at maximum in line with the criteria for planning and equipping multimodal sites of the project cities.multimodal, funded by the European Union’s INTERREG Baltic Sea Region programme.
