In 2017-2021 Vilnius has been participating in the European Union’s Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme project cities.multimodal, which aims to create sustainable urban mobility. Vilnius has been implementing this project together with authorities from 7 other countries (Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Finland, Sweden and Russia’s city of Pskov).
The value of the installation of multimodal sites in Vilnius was EUR 160,000, of which EUR 136,000 were funded from the project “cities.multimodal“ of the EU INTERREG Baltic Sea Region programme, and the remaining amount was covered by Vilnius Municipality Administration and Susisiekimo paslaugos SĮ.
The total cost of the project for the installation of two multimodal sites includes the construction of storage facilities and architectural design, all necessary electrical installation works, as well as the production of the custom-built (not industrial production) pavilion, programming of smart storage locks, video surveillance cameras, installation of the sites on site. In addition, all interior installation work – for example, lighting, production and installation of double-decker bicycle racks, design and other works.
An international public procurement competition was organized for the design and installation of multimodal sites. It was open to all wishing to participate, the solution proposed by the winning company met all the requirements for an EU project.
