Travel by public transport in the capital

Get acquainted with the types of public transport in the capital. The following types of transport operate in Vilnius:

Night buses (marked with a gray bus symbol with the letter “N”)

Public transport tickets
Students receive an 80% discount on single and fixed-term tickets.
Persons over 18 years of age who are enrolled in a general education program, including persons whose general education program and general education program combined with a vocational training program are provided by vocational training providers, but not longer than until they reach the age of 23; as well as persons who are enrolled in formal vocational training programs, including during their academic leave granted by vocational training providers due to illness, pregnancy, or childcare;
Students of higher education institutions studying under a full-time study program, Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, other European Union member states, and European Economic Area countries, as well as their family members, studying at higher education institutions in European Union member states or European Economic Area countries under a full-time study program.
Important: For international students studying in Europe, discounts are only available with an international student ID card – ISIC. You can have either a physical ISIC card or a virtual ID on your phone.


Ticket types, prices, and discounts
How to purchase a public transport ticket?

JUDU card
The JUDU card is valid on all public transport routes in the capital – buses, trolleybuses, express buses, and night buses. You can purchase and top up your JUDU card at JUDU customer service centers or ticket distribution points, and if you already have a JUDU or Vilniečio card, you can top it up at a JUDU self-service terminal. The JUDU card costs €1.50.
„m.Ticket“ and „Trafi“ apps
Download the m.Ticket or Trafi app, purchase the ticket you want, and activate it on your phone when you board public transport.
Important: The m.Ticket app only works with Lithuanian phone numbers.
Contactless payment on public transport
If you do not use public transport often, it is convenient to purchase a 60-minute ticket on the vehicle using a contactless bank card. By tapping your contactless payment card on the validator, you will purchase a full-price 60-minute ticket for €1.25. The ticket will be activated automatically. No discounts apply to this ticket.

You can easily reach Vilnius Airport or Vilnius city center by public transport, which runs regularly every day:

Vilnius is becoming increasingly convenient for environmentally friendly transportation, which not only protects our nature but also saves time! Avoid traffic jams by traveling by bicycle or other means of transportation – there are already more than 177 km of bicycle paths in the capital.
In the capital, you can safely and conveniently store your bicycle in bicycle storage facilities or lock it to bicycle racks. You can also conveniently take your bicycles and scooters on public transport if necessary!

For foreign students studying in Europe, discounts are only available with an international student card – ISIC. You can have both – a physical ISIC card and a virtual card on your phone.
The student certificate of a foreign university (school) and the international certificate "EURO26" are not recognized as documents giving the right to discount. Ticket discounts are available only with an ISIC (International Student Identity Card) certificate.

Important: it is not possible to use the app without Lithuanian phone number.
- You need to confirm that you really want to activate your ticket.
- After confirmation, wait for 15 seconds. After this time, your ticket will be activated.
