Measures to achieve this are foreseen in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Vilnius City. The aim is that the pedestrian infrastructure would conform the principles of universal design. The infrastructure equipped according to these principles is convenient for people with disabilities and those with special needs. It is important to understand that everyone benefits from the properly designed and equipped infrastructure: people whose mobility is not reduced and those with special needs – children, parents with prams, people who suffered injuries or elderly, people using rolling gear (roller skates, scooters, skateboards), pregnant women and those wearing high heel shoes, also people carrying heavy packs, or talking on a cell phone while walking.
